Pool water has a geometry if you stare long enough. Aqua Blocks catches it: vivid aqua rectangles rippling inside one another on pale seafoam, hand-drawn so the corners soften like light through water. Coastal and mid-century at once, without leaning hard on either.

The design

Oversized concentric rectangles in bright aqua on a seafoam ground, drawn freehand with relaxed lines. The big repeat keeps the two watery tones feeling open rather than busy. The brighter aqua rises off the seafoam like ripples catching sun, and the hand-drawn wobble keeps the geometry from going cold. Across the room it reads as calm repetition, until the freehand corners give it away up close. Strong daylight makes both blues swim pleasantly.

Works best in

Bedrooms, nurseries, powder rooms, entryways, and beach houses tired of anchor motifs.

Style notes

Mid-century poolside, remembered fondly rather than reproduced. It runs well with light teak, white lacquer, chrome details, and striped cotton in tomato or navy. In a nursery it stays serene, and in a powder room hand-washing becomes a brief vacation with better weather. Beach houses may finally retire the anchors, and no one will mourn them.
