Pour the wine and put it on the wall. Claret Pendulum is a burgundy ogee trellis wallpaper, cream ribbons swaying down a deep claret ground with the look of woven linen, and it is the richest of our pendulums and the easiest to live with. A room in it feels warm before the heating comes on.

The design

Pale cream curves rise in mirrored pairs, pinching and swelling so the burgundy between them forms a column of pointed drops. Wine red is a generous color, and here it reads as maroon in daylight and as mulled claret under lamps. From across the room the wall settles into a warm, even rhythm of red and cream. Up close the linen-look grain gives the flat color the depth of a good tweed.

Works best in

Living rooms, mudrooms, reading nooks, studies, dining rooms and powder rooms.

Style notes

Warm and confident. Pair it with burgundy millwork, walnut, brass and camel leather. A tartan cushion and a brass reading lamp look like old friends here. Warm bulbs deepen the red and make the cream glow, so this is a pattern for evenings and long dinners. In a mudroom it turns wet boots and dog leads into a scene from a country hotel.

Order with confidence

Claret Pendulum is an original WALLPLICITY design, refined as a seamless repeat so the curves keep their rhythm across every panel. Peel and stick or traditional wallpaper, you decide. Samples available.
