Film noir never cast enough dogs, which was its loss. Good Boy Noir corrects the record with nostalgic canine portraits in rich, inky tones: moody, vintage, and carrying the unmistakable gravitas of a very good boy who has seen things.

The design

Vintage-style dog portraits in deep inky tones, with retro detailing and a shadowed, nostalgic finish. The inky ground swallows the edges, so each portrait emerges the way faces do in old cinema, lit from one side and sure of the other. At a distance the wall reads as a dark tone with presence, and the dogs reveal themselves as you approach.

Works best in

Powder rooms, hallways, offices, dens, and pet-friendly living rooms where the sofa was surrendered long ago.

Style notes

Film noir by way of the dog park, played completely straight. It pairs with black metal, smoked oak, aged leather, and a record player that gets used. In a den it deepens the evening, and in a powder room it stages the best sixty seconds of deadpan in the house. Warm bulbs only, this is not an overhead-light pattern.
