Tie-dye grew up, moved somewhere coastal, and started drinking things with mint in them. Julep Swirl is the result: a soft watercolor wash of sage and white swirling across the wall, airy, relaxed, and far more sophisticated than its festival ancestors.

The design

A watercolor tie-dye wash in sage green and white, with soft swirling movement and airy, low-contrast calm. Soft clouds of sage drift forward and back while the white opens the wall up, keeping the effect closer to weather than pattern. Morning light makes it nearly disappear into calm, and by afternoon the swirls gather a little more presence. Low contrast is the whole strategy, and it works.

Works best in

Bedrooms, living rooms, calm nurseries, studios, and porches that got enclosed but kept the attitude.

Style notes

The lineage is pure 1970s, filtered through a coastal cottage until only the ease remained. It likes pale wood, woven grass, white cotton, and greenery trailing off a shelf. A living room reads relaxed without reading unmade, and a nursery gets movement with nothing to point at. Mint optional, recommended.
