The design

Repeating peacock fans in black on white, sharp-edged and high contrast. A graphic take on a classic motif, crisp from any distance. Stripped to black on white, the fans read as pure rhythm, closer to op art than aviary. The high contrast carries across the largest room, and in small ones it works at point-blank range. Strong daylight sharpens the edges, and evening light settles it into calm graphic order.

Works best in

Powder rooms, entries, headboard walls, and monochrome rooms that still like a bit of swagger.

Style notes

Mid-century graphic instincts applied to the showiest bird available. Black frames, white marble, chrome, and exactly one bold accent color will do, if the room insists on color at all. An entry reads confident before anyone says hello, and a headboard wall gives the bed a proscenium. Monochrome does the peacock a favor: all posture, no noise.
