The design

Faded hibiscus-style florals in tonal rusts over a deep terracotta ground. Tone-on-tone layering reads as texture from afar, blooms up close. The blossoms sit barely a tone apart from the ground, so they surface and vanish as the light moves through the day. Across the room the wall reads as pure saturated color, and the florals reveal themselves at conversation distance. After sunset the whole surface glows like embers banked for the night.

Style notes
