Sage Daisy is the quiet member of this family. Oversized daisies in sage and silver stack over a dark ground on a layered floral wallpaper where the color has been pulled almost all the way out.

The design

Petals run from bone white at the tips to a soft sage and gray toward the base, with the layers behind receding into charcoal green. The orange centers survive the desaturation and, with so little color elsewhere, they read more strongly here than in any other version. The optical depth remains intact. What changes is the temperature, which drops to something closer to a black and white photograph with one color left in.

Works best in

Home offices, bedrooms, living rooms and a powder room. Desaturated patterns give you the scale and movement of a bold floral without committing the room to a color.

Style notes

Walnut or black steel, brass or nickel, either works. Upholstery in charcoal, bone or a single rust accent. This is the version to choose when the room already has art or objects that need to be seen. Trim in charcoal or white. Directional light brings the layers apart, while flat light lets them merge.
