Yellow is an unexpected host for chinoiserie, which is precisely the pleasure. Blossom Pavilion drifts pink and blue cherry blossoms across a vintage golden ground: classic branch-and-bloom grace, warmed up several degrees and ready for daylight. Traditional in bones, sunny in disposition.

The design

Cherry blossom chinoiserie in pinks and blues on a vintage yellow ground. Traditional branch structure with a sunlit, cheerful palette. The pinks and blues float forward off the golden ground, which behaves like late-morning sun behind branches. From across a room it plays as warmth in motion, and up close the blossoms show their careful drawing. Few traditional patterns get brighter as the day does, and this is one.

Style notes

Chinoiserie tradition, moved to the sunny side of the house. It pairs with cane, bamboo-turned wood, celadon ceramics, and warm white trim. In a dining room it hosts before you do, and in a nursery it grows up gracefully into a guest room. Morning rooms were invented for walls like this.
