Coimbra Green is a tile medallion wallpaper in green and cream, the most garden leaning of the Coimbra tiles. The acanthus ring around each rosette starts to read as actual foliage once the color is green.

The design

Radiating petals build each medallion, surrounded by a ring of scrolling leaves that in green look convincingly botanical. Diagonal ribbons cross the cream ground and a small red and cream flower marks every intersection. Two or three green washes give the petals depth, running from a light grass at the edges to a deep bottle at the center. Cream is generous throughout, which keeps the wall bright.

Works best in

Sunrooms, kitchens, dining rooms and a powder room. Green and cream is the easiest combination in this entire group to live with day after day.

Style notes

Rattan and pale oak, aged brass, and linen in oatmeal or white. Terracotta pots and real plants. A few red accents pick up the flower heads without needing much. Trim in cream. This pattern holds up in bright daylight better than most, so a room with a lot of glass is not a problem.
