East Asian artists spent centuries perfecting the dragon, and it shows. Dragon's Den lets them loose in rich maroon and ivory: sinuous forms winding among lanterns, peonies, and clouds, powerful without menace and ornate without clutter. A wall with a pulse.

The design

Flowing dragons among lanterns, peonies, and clouds in maroon and ivory, drawn with classic East Asian detail and ceremonial rhythm. The ivory linework lifts the dragons cleanly off the maroon, so the movement carries across a large room. Up close the ceremonial detail rewards patience, each lantern and cloud placed like a move in a long, winning game. Maroon supplies the gravity, ivory supplies the grace, and neither gives ground.

Style notes

Classic chinoiserie confidence, taken at full strength. It holds its own beside black lacquer, rosewood, brass bowls, and cushions in deep red silk or velvet.
