Green has been the color of old money and older libraries for a very long time. Emerald Acanthus leans all the way in: deep jade plumes scrolling over black, saturated enough to look expensive at ten feet and detailed enough to reward a closer look.

The design

Large-scale acanthus plume damask with chrysanthemum centers in emerald and deep jade on black. Rich saturation, sculptural leaf work, a steady symmetrical rhythm.

Works best in

Dining rooms, studies, bedrooms, entry halls, and libraries that take themselves a little seriously.

Style notes

Library green, floor to ceiling. Pair it with mahogany or walnut, antique brass, oxblood leather, and bound books in quantity. Brass picture lights and a low lamp glow make the jade read richer after dark. Green wants warm undertones nearby, not gray.
