Oxblood is a color with a temper, and this pattern gives it room. Oxblood Acanthus sweeps deep red plumes and burnished rust across a black ground: warm, heavy, and unmistakably after dark. Candlelight does it favors.

The design

Large-scale acanthus plume damask with chrysanthemum centers in oxblood and burnished rust on black. Deep warm contrast with high-relief leaf detail.

Style notes

The warmest of the acanthus trio, and the most nocturnal. Pair it with dark stained oak, aged bronze, leather, and heavy natural textiles. Low, warm light is the whole trick. Cool white bulbs work against it. Built for rooms used mostly after seven.
