Porto Green is an ornate tile wallpaper in a true leaf green over cream. Brighter than the teal and considerably more cheerful, it is the version to choose for a room that gets real sun.
The design
The same quarter medallions lock together into rosettes and quatrefoils across the grout lines. Green is laid in flat washes with deeper outlines and the occasional darker pooling where two lines meet. Cream between the motifs is warm rather than stark. In strong daylight the green reads almost grassy, which gives the traditional geometry an unexpectedly modern feel.
Works best in
Sunrooms, kitchens, powder rooms and a laundry. Bright greens hold their color in full sun where softer tones wash out to nothing by midday.
Style notes
Whitewashed oak, cream cabinetry and aged brass. Rattan seating and linen in oatmeal or white. Terracotta pots suit the palette exactly. Trim in cream or a soft white. Skip green textiles, which compete rather than coordinate. Let plants and the wall handle all the green in the room.
