Porto Teal is an azulejo wallpaper in teal and cream, and teal is the color that suits this geometry best of all. It has enough green in it to feel fresh and enough blue to stay classical.
The design
Interlocking rosettes and quatrefoils build up across the wall as quarter medallions meet at the grout lines. The teal pools darker along every outline and washes lighter through the centers, exactly the way glaze behaves on a fired tile. Cream negative space carries a faint warmth. Across a large wall the repeating circles set up a rhythm that is calming rather than busy, which is unusual for a pattern with this much detail.
Works best in
Bathrooms, kitchens, laundry rooms and a sunroom. Teal reads as clean without the coldness of a pure blue, which matters in a room with a lot of white fixtures.
Style notes
White or teal cabinetry, brass or nickel, and marble or a plain white counter. Towels in white or oatmeal. A teak or oak vanity brings warmth. Trim in cream. Rattan or a woven basket softens the geometry. Natural light is ideal, and a warm bulb keeps the teal from turning gray at night.
