Toile went to a party and came home changed. Toile Remix is a retro toile wallpaper that keeps the botanical bones of the classic and recolors them in teal, fuchsia and violet with orange accents over warm peach: tradition with the saturation cranked and zero regrets. Maximalism, but with a family tree.

The design

Blossoms in teal and fuchsia with violet stems and orange accents on a peach ground: traditional toile structure, decidedly untraditional color. The fuchsia arrives first, the violet stems hold the middle distance, and the peach ground warms everything it touches. Squint and the silhouette is pure eighteenth-century toile, step closer and the color scheme cheerfully blows its own cover. Low evening light turns the peach golden and the whole wall softens.

Living rooms, creative studios, dressing rooms, and hallways that refuse to be beige.

Style notes

The bloodline is French toile, the manners are strictly downtown. It plays well with black japanned furniture, white marble, warm brass, and anything lacquered within reach. In a powder room it performs, in a home office it keeps morale suspiciously high, and in an entryway it makes the commute worthwhile. Tradition never looked so pleased with itself.
