After dark, the cats run this wall. Alley Cats peers out from a deep black ground with wide cream eyes, soft brown ears, and tiny pink noses: a bold graphic gang that turns out to be entirely friendly. Storybook by nature, midnight by palette.
The design
Oversized whimsical cat faces on a near-black ground, with cream eyes, white whiskers, and pink noses. High contrast and big-scale charm, drawn friendly rather than fierce. The cream eyes are the first thing any room notices, popping off the black like headlights in a garage. At a distance the faces soften into a friendly rhythm of shapes, and up close every whisker earns a second look. The dark ground keeps the mood calmer than the subject suggests.
Works best in
Kids' rooms, playrooms, reading nooks, powder rooms, and the corner where the actual cat holds court.
Style notes
Storybook illustration on the night shift. It plays well with honey-toned wood, warm white paint, corduroy cushions, and one unapologetic red blanket. In a kids' room it becomes the resident mischief, in a playroom it supervises, and in a reading nook it waits up with you. The actual cat will assume it was consulted.
