The design

The florals emerge from the deep ground reluctantly, which is exactly their charm, and the reds warm the shadows without lifting them. From a distance the wall reads as rich darkness that turns out, up close, to be crowded with detail. Lamplight opens it like a late chapter, one detail at a time.

Style notes

Gothic romance with excellent posture. Give it mahogany, blackened bronze, wine-dark velvet and low amber light.
