The design

Detailed blossoms and foliage in deep indigo purple and soft ivory on a black ground. Layered, romantic botanical work with rich nighttime depth. The ivory blooms hold the light longest, while the indigo dissolves into the black as evening comes on. Taken in whole, the wall is a garden at nightfall, and the layered detail waits patiently at close range. Under low light the purples go rich and the surface seems to deepen.

Style notes

Descended from Dutch master florals, painted at the day's last blue. Smoked oak, brass candelabra, aubergine velvet, and deep-toned trim all extend the hour.
