Good storybooks always have a page you keep returning to. Frog Prince is that page, a dreamy dark blue frog wallpaper in watercolor style: small, solemn frogs sitting among soft layered indigo washes, half fairy tale and half quiet nocturne. Whimsy, served with a completely straight face.

The design

Watercolor-style frogs in moody blues, set against layered indigo washes with soft shadow. Painterly washes and a gentle rhythm keep the charm tranquil rather than cartoonish. The indigo layers like nightfall, and the frogs sit in it as small still points. From across the room the wall reads as deep blue dusk, and the subjects appear on approach. Lamplight softens the washes toward slate.

Style notes

A nocturne with amphibians, and not a wink in it. It pairs with rumpled linen, pewter, weathered oak, and a lamp worth reading by.
