Morris believed a pattern should look like it grew there. Gilded Tulip takes him at his word: golden tulips rising through olive acanthus scrolls on a ground so dark the blooms seem lit from inside. Heritage drawing, midnight staging.
The design
A Morris-style damask medallion of gold tulips, olive scrollwork, and slate blue foliage on deep black. Dense botanical linework at a generous, symmetrical scale.
Works best in
Bedrooms, dining rooms, studies, entry halls, and anyone who reads by lamplight on purpose.
Style notes
Arts and Crafts drama with a metallic heart. Pair it with dark walnut, aged brass, olive velvet, and linen in bone or cream. Warm lamplight brings the gold forward. Overhead glare flattens it. It carries a formal room without asking the furniture to compete.
