The design

A Morris-style repeat of scrolling vines, acanthus, and stylized blooms in layered greens. Dense, symmetrical, and drawn with the patient detail the tradition demands. The paler leaf tones lift off the deeper green ground, giving the density a slow forward-and-back rhythm rather than a flat mass. Across a room it reads as verdure, nearly a hedge, and up close the drawing shows the patience it was made with. It keeps its depth in low light, which libraries will appreciate.
