Morris filled his patterns with birds because he thought a wall should feel alive. Midnight Aviary keeps the birds and turns the lights down: paired songbirds nesting in honeysuckle and fritillaria, drawn in gold and plum against black. Gothic bones, gentle company.

The design

A Morris-style medallion repeat of paired songbirds among honeysuckle, fritillaria, and scrolling olive vines on black. Fine heritage linework in antique gold, plum, and slate blue.

Style notes

Gothic botanical with a soft heart. Pair it with dark cherry or walnut, antique gold, plum or moss velvet, and unlacquered brass hardware. It rewards a slower room: reading chairs, layered lamps, a small clutter of good books. The birds keep it from taking itself too seriously.
