White blooms read differently in the dark. Moonlit Fernery is a dark botanical wallpaper where ivory flowers and coral stems sit inside a thicket of pine green ferns, and the pale petals do most of the work.
The design
Dandelion clocks, white dahlias and small bell shaped flowers pick up whatever light is in the room. Around them the ferns run in every direction, some sharp and detailed, others softened back into shadow. Coral and rust accents keep the green from turning flat. The layering is deep enough that you keep finding plants you missed, which is the whole appeal of a maximalist pattern.
Works best in
Living rooms, bedrooms, dining rooms and powder rooms. A busy wall works best where the furniture is calm, so give it a simple sofa and let the pattern carry the room.
Style notes
Walnut, black iron and antique brass. Upholstery in bottle green, cream or a soft ochre. A jute or wool rug in a solid tone keeps the floor quiet. Trim in a deep green rather than white lets the wall reach the ceiling. One warm floor lamp in a corner will find the white blooms and make the whole pattern glow.
