The bell rang and the whole reef clocked off. School's Out sends illustrated fish in sunglasses cruising across a cream ground in easy earth tones: maximalist in spirit, deadpan in delivery. It's the rare pattern that makes guests laugh and then compliment your taste.
The design
Retro illustrated fish wearing sunglasses, swimming through a dense repeat in cream and earthy tones. Playful subject, warm vintage palette, straight face. The earthy fish swim shoulder to shoulder across the cream, so the wall reads as a warm, even school from a distance. The sunglasses register only at close range, which is exactly the right timing for a joke. Warm light pulls the palette toward toast and terracotta, friendly at any hour.
Works best in
Kitchens, bathrooms, nurseries, lake houses, and eclectic accent walls with a sense of humor on file.
Style notes
Vintage field-guide illustration that wandered into the novelty aisle. It swims along nicely with butcher block, painted cabinets in cream or clay, woven baskets, and towels that refuse to take themselves seriously. Brass taps look right at home, and white trim keeps the current moving. In a lake house it is practically zoning code, and in a bathroom it ends every guest tour with a grin.
