Certain reds behave like wine: richer the longer you sit with them. Cabernet is a garnet limewash, deep burgundy laid in soft mineral layers, cozy at breakfast and downright dramatic by dinner. No pattern, all presence. It flatters candlelight, and vice versa.

The design

A solid garnet-burgundy limewash with subtle layered texture. Tonal depth without pattern, so walls read as atmosphere rather than decoration. The color works in layers, darker mineral passes sitting behind lighter ones so the wall never goes flat. Across the room it reads as one deep pour of garnet, and up close the clouding surfaces like breath on glass. Daylight keeps it bricky and awake, while candlelight tips it toward black cherry.

Style notes

Old-world color confidence, no pattern as a safety net. It loves dark walnut and mahogany, aged brass and bronze, velvet in oxblood or forest, and cream trim to keep the drama framed. Dining rooms and libraries are its natural habitat, bedrooms take it as a nightcap, and a home office wears it the way a leather chair fits. It ages well because it started out that way.
