Dark walls are the fastest route to atmosphere, and the least forgiving of shortcuts. Ink Wash does it properly: a deep midnight charcoal with the soft depth of limewash, rich enough to swallow glare and subtle enough to flatter everything placed against it.
The design
A deep charcoal-black wash with soft limewash depth and no pattern. Pure tone, engineered for drama and white trim. The tone shifts with the hour, reading near black at night and softened graphite when daylight arrives. Its cloudy depth keeps large walls from going flat, and everything hung against it gains an outline. Candlelight sits on it particularly well, pooling warm against the dark.

Style notes
This is the gallery trick in its purest form: darkness as the most flattering backdrop. Bring in cognac leather, antique brass, cream boucle, and white trim if you want the drama drawn in bold.
