Plaster, troweled by a patient hand: that's the effect. Harbor Wash mottles deep navy in soft mineral layers so the wall carries the depth of an old harbor at dusk. It flatters brass, wood, and stone, and asks for nothing in return.
The design
A navy limewash with a softly mottled, hand-troweled plaster look. Deep tonal movement, no pattern, all depth. The mottling shifts as light crosses it, so the wall carries weather the way open water does. Morning reads slate, evening reads ink, and neither ever looks flat. There is no repeat to find, only depth, which is why the eye keeps returning.
Works best in
Living rooms, bedrooms, entryways, powder baths, and rooms anchored by good materials.
Style notes
Old-harbor minimalism, all presence and no pattern politics. It anchors cognac leather, raw oak, unpolished brass, and stone in any honest shade of grey. A dining room gains gravity, and a bedroom gains the kind of dark that improves sleep. Layer in cream linen so the navy has something to be generous toward, and light candles often.
