Plaster laid on in patient, mineral layers: that is the effect. Harbor Wash is a navy limewash wallpaper that mottles deep navy in soft washes so the wall carries the depth of an old harbor at dusk. It flatters brass, wood and stone, and asks for nothing in return.
The design
A navy limewash with a softly mottled plaster look. Deep tonal movement, no pattern, all depth. The mottling shifts as light crosses it, so the wall carries weather the way open water does. Morning reads slate, evening reads ink, and neither ever looks flat. Depth is the only subject, which is why the eye keeps returning.
Works best in
Living rooms, bedrooms, entryways, powder baths, dining rooms and rooms anchored by good materials.
Style notes
Old-harbor minimalism, all presence and no pattern politics. It anchors cognac leather, raw oak, unpolished brass and stone in any honest shade of gray. A dining room gains gravity, and a bedroom gains the kind of dark that improves sleep. Layer in cream linen so the navy has something to be generous toward, and light candles often.
