Plaid has always known how to make a place feel settled; in pink, it also knows how to make one feel young. Picnic Plaid crosses soft rosy checks into a classic weave: farmhouse comfort with a preppy streak and absolutely no heavy lifting.

The design

A classic plaid of layered pink checks on a light ground, with woven-look lines that keep the pattern crisp, cozy, and easy to live with. The deeper rose lines carry the structure while the paler pinks wash back into the ground, so the weave reads soft rather than strict. At a distance it settles into a warm blush glow, and close up the crossings give it a homespun, held-in-the-hand quality.

Style notes

Farmhouse plaid with a boarding-school blazer somewhere in its past. Cream paint, honeyed pine, wicker, and white cotton keep it fresh, while a touch of chocolate brown keeps it from floating away.
