Naturalists used to draw fungi by lamplight, all careful caps and gills on dark paper. Spore Study picks up where they left off: vintage botanical mushrooms and forest sprigs on rich black, cottagecore with its collar buttoned. Scholarly on the surface, woodsy underneath.

The design

Vintage-style mushroom caps and forest sprigs on a deep black ground. Fine botanical detail with a refined, collected-specimen feel. The caps and sprigs hover against the black like specimens on velvet, each one legible from reading distance. Step back and the wall becomes a dark, even field with a faint constellation of ochre and cream, richer by candlelight than any overhead bulb will admit.

Style notes

Victorian natural history with cottagecore sympathies, filed under both. It sits rightly among old oak, brass library lamps, leather spines, and a wing chair that takes notes. Deep green or black trim keeps the scholarship serious, cream mats and pale ceilings keep it breathable. In a dining room it slows the meal down agreeably, and in a study it grants tenure.
