Buttercream Stripe is a candy stripe wallpaper in butter yellow and warm white, clean even bands running floor to ceiling with the cheer of a seaside soda fountain. It is sunshine for a room that does not get enough.
The design
The stripes are equal and crisp, yellow then white then yellow, each edge sharp and each band the same width all the way down. Across the room the wall is bright and orderly. Up close the yellow has the softness of churned butter rather than the glare of a highlighter. Morning light makes it glow, lamplight turns it golden.
Works best in
Kitchens, nurseries, kids rooms and sunrooms. It wakes up a north facing room and suits any space with a little mischief in it.
Style notes
White painted wood, pale oak and polished nickel keep it fresh. Trim in a bright white sharpens the stripes, while a yellow trim to match the bands makes the room feel like a striped tent. Gingham, a rush seat and a blue and white jug are the natural company. Keep the ceiling white and the floor plain.
