Emerald Fleur is a wallpaper built on a black fleur damask over emerald green. The motif is tighter and more heraldic than a floral damask, closer to something stamped into leather than grown in a garden.

The design

A fleur de lis sits at the center of each unit, flanked by heavy symmetrical scrolls that hook around and link to the next. Black fills the motif solidly. The emerald behind has a woven grain running through it that reads as linen from close range. Pattern density is high, so the wall holds together as a single green and black field rather than a series of separate shapes.

Works best in

Dining rooms, bars, entryways and a library. Heraldic patterns give a plain room instant formality, which is useful when the architecture offers none.

Style notes

Dark oak or mahogany, antique brass, and leather in oxblood or black. Textiles in gold or cream. A brass chandelier is on theme without tipping into costume. Trim in black or the same emerald.
