Regent Fleur is a wallpaper running the same black fleur damask across a deep sapphire ground. Blue softens the heraldry a little and the result feels more like a club room than a great hall.

The design

Each unit centers on a fleur de lis with symmetrical scrolls reaching out to lock into its neighbors. The sapphire ground carries a linen grain and shifts between navy and a brighter cobalt as the light moves. Black holds the motif at full strength throughout. Because the units interlock so tightly, the eye reads the whole wall as one continuous surface with no starting point.

Works best in

Studies, bedrooms, dining rooms and a powder room. Deep blue is the most universally liked of the dark wall colors, which makes this a low risk choice for a shared room.

Style notes

Walnut or dark stained oak, brass or antique nickel, and leather in tan. Wool in cream, camel or a faded red. A green plant reads well against sapphire. Trim in the same blue or in near black. Brass lamps with warm bulbs are the right light. Chrome and glass feel cold next to this pattern.
