Denim for your walls, more or less. Cottage Plaid crosses navy blues with warm neutral lines in a check that works the way good workwear does: dependable, unfussy, better with age. It gives a room structure without ever asking to be noticed for it.

The design

A navy and denim-blue plaid with warm neutral lines. Classic, even structure with a relaxed cottage-farmhouse temper. The warm neutral lines sit slightly forward of the navy field, softening the grid into something closer to homespun than graph paper. From a distance it reads as a steady denim tone, and the crossing lines emerge as you approach. It keeps its composure in any light, which is the whole job of a plaid.

Works best in

Bedrooms, nurseries, farmhouse kitchens, offices, mudrooms, and closets that clean up nicely.

Style notes

Farmhouse pragmatism with a tailor's respect for a straight line. Pair it with painted shaker cabinets, galvanized metal, butcher block, and chambray or ticking stripes.
