Cream Boucle is a nubby wool look wallpaper in cream and ivory, thousands of tiny soft loops gathered into one warm field. It wraps a room the way a boucle throw wraps a sofa.
The design
The loops are small and close, each one a little hill of cream with a soft shadow at its foot, so the whole wall carries a gentle pebbled grain. From the doorway it reads as a cosy off white. Up close it looks like it would be soft to brush past. Side light makes the loops stand up, flat light melts them into cream.
Works best in
Libraries, bedrooms, nurseries and reading nooks. It makes a cold room feel warmer the moment it goes up.
Style notes
Pale oak, rattan and brushed nickel keep it Scandinavian, while walnut and brass make it richer. Trim in a warm white is the natural choice, and a caramel trim is a lovely one. Layer in sheepskin, a chunky knit and a leather cushion. Keep the big patterns on the floor.
