Green and gold is an old pairing and Emerald Plume is a wallpaper that knows it. Deco fans in brushed gold rise across a deep emerald ground with the confidence of a hotel lobby from the right decade.
The design
The emerald has depth rather than flatness, shifting toward bottle green in the shadows and toward jade where the gold sits closest. Each arch is filled with rays that taper to a point, and the thin outline around every fan keeps the edges crisp. From across a room the pattern reads as a series of tall columns. Up close it breaks into detail.
Works best in
Libraries, studies, dining rooms and bars. Green calms a room down even when the pattern is busy, which makes this one easier to live with than it looks.
Style notes
Quartersawn oak and walnut both sit well with the emerald. Use antique brass rather than chrome. Leather in cognac or oxblood is the obvious chair, and it is obvious because it works. Bookshelves painted the same green as the ground make the whole room feel upholstered. Warm bulbs only, since cool light turns emerald toward teal.
