Peacocks in powder blue are considerably more relaxed than the emerald kind. Powder Plume is an Art Deco peacock wallpaper that spreads their stylized wings in soft blue across a pale cream ground in a friendly rhythm: bold enough to carry a wall, calm enough to wrap a whole room. Parents tend to like it slightly more than they admit.
The design
Stylized peacocks with spread wings in soft powder blue, repeating in an Art Deco pattern over a pale ground. The birds' outlines come forward while the pale ground opens up behind them, so the wall stays airy even at full pattern. From a distance the wings link into a soft lattice of curves, and up close the peacocks show their good natured faces. Soft light rounds it, bright light sharpens it.
Works best in
Nurseries, kids bedrooms, bathrooms, reading corners, and family spaces where the grown ups picked the wallpaper and the kids approved.
Style notes
Art Deco by way of the aviary, minus the ego. White or cream furniture, light oak, brushed nickel, and cotton in cloud blue keep it calm, while a touch of coral makes the birds preen. Nurseries and bathrooms get bold pattern that soothes. Grand plumage, entirely house trained.
