Backstage at some 1970s television studio, a wall looked exactly like this. Green Room glides funky retro lines in green and sand over a linen-like texture: bold in silhouette, relaxed in palette, and cooler than it has any need to be.

The design

Retro pop-art lines in green and sand flowing over a subtle linen-textured ground. Bold curves, mellow colors, vintage swing. Sand keeps the green honest, cooling each curve before it can crowd the wall. Across a room the lines move like slow radio waves, and closer in you catch the gentle weave of the ground beneath them. Evening lamps pull amber out of the sand and settle the tempo.

Works best in

Entryways, bedrooms, powder rooms, listening corners, and hosts with a record collection worth defending.

Style notes

Set-design retro with the sense to underplay it. It runs well with teak, smoked glass, cork, and a sofa in mustard or rust if you have the nerve. In an entry it starts the visit at the right speed, and in a bedroom it winds things down instead of up. The record collection will feel seen.
