Cream, flax and a good honest blue. Harbor Ticking is a woven stripe wallpaper with the feel of an old grain sack, and it brings a little more contrast than most stripes in this family.
The design
Wide bands of warm flax alternate with narrow blue stripes and cream gaps. A few of the blue bands carry a fine ribbed structure that gives them body against the flatter cream. The blue is denim rather than navy, softened as though it has been washed many times. The spacing is irregular enough to feel woven instead of printed.
Works best in
Laundry rooms, kitchens, mudrooms and kids rooms. Higher contrast stripes hold up well in busy rooms where a subtle pattern would simply vanish.
Style notes
Whitewashed or pale oak, painted cabinets in white or a soft blue, and nickel or chrome hardware. Baskets in seagrass, towels in white with a blue stripe. Navy accents deepen it, and a black accent keeps it from going too coastal. Skip brass here, which reads warm against the cool blue.
