Ivory Washi is a paper look wallpaper in soft ivory with fine pale fibres drifting through it, the surface of a Japanese screen brought to a whole wall. It is the calmest white in the collection, and it is not quite white.
The design
Long translucent fibres cross the ground at every angle, a shade paler than the ivory beneath them, so the wall has the gentle cloudiness of real washi held up to a window. From across the room it is a warm white with depth. Up close the fibres show themselves. Morning light keeps it cool and clean, evening light warms it to cream.
Works best in
Bedrooms, bathrooms, living rooms and hallways. It suits a room built around space, light and a few good things.
Style notes
Pale ash, black iron and unglazed ceramics belong here. Trim in a warm white blends away and lets the paper read as the wall, while a charcoal trim frames it like a screen. Linen, a low bench and one branch in a vase are enough. Japandi rooms were waiting for this one.
