Curtain up. Showgirl stretches soft pink peacock tails up deep charcoal walls in tall, graceful rows: Deco glamour with a warm-blooded palette. The vertical sweep makes rooms taller; the pink makes them kinder. Drama rarely arrives this well mannered, or stays this composed.
The design
Soft pink peacocks with long fanned tails in tall vertical rows on a deep charcoal ground. Art Deco lines with a warm, rosy contrast. The pink plumes advance against the charcoal and carry the eye upward in one long line, which is where the extra ceiling height comes from. By day the contrast is crisp and theatrical, and under evening lamps the charcoal deepens until the tails seem lit from the wings.
Works best in
Dressing rooms, main bedrooms, chic nurseries, bold hallways, and powder rooms with boutique-hotel ambitions.
Style notes
Deco showmanship with Hollywood-regency manners. It dresses up beside blush velvet, polished nickel, black lacquer, and a tall mirror that has seen things. Charcoal trim extends the stage, pale pink bedding returns the compliment. In a dressing room it flatters everyone, and in a powder room it performs the boutique-hotel act nightly.
