Vesper Rosette is a wallpaper of cathedral rose windows glowing teal and amber against black. The tracery is intricate, the ground is almost entirely dark, and the effect is a wall of lit glass seen from inside the building.
The design
Each window is built from a small amber center surrounded by rings of teal and midnight blue lancets, the stone tracery between them rendered dark enough to nearly vanish. Smaller rosettes fill the spaces between the large ones. Light appears to come from behind the glass rather than from the room, which is what gives the pattern its depth. In a dim room the amber centers read as actual points of light.
Works best in
Dining rooms, bars, media rooms and a powder room. Very dark patterns with small bright accents suit rooms used after sunset.
Style notes
Ebonized wood, blackened steel, and a table with a heavy top. Candles in glass holders continue the idea. Textiles in teal, rust or charcoal. Trim in black. Avoid anything pale, which will pull attention away from the bright centers. This pattern rewards low, warm, directional light more than any other in the collection.
