Wheatstitch runs a thin braid of leaves up through pale vertical stripes, the way a stitched sampler runs a border. Soft at a distance, detailed close up.

The design

Pale vertical stripes in cream and stone with a fine stitched leaf braid threading through them. Three stripe repeats to every 24 inch panel width.

Works best in

Bedrooms, entryways, powder rooms, living rooms, bathrooms, and nurseries.

Style notes

Cottagecore restraint. Pair it with white oak, unlacquered brass, ticking stripe, and white bedding. The pale ground keeps a small room open. The leaf braid gives it a reason to be wallpaper instead of paint. Good in a room where a bold floral would be too much.
